Happy fall everyone! It’s Kristy here, and I’m so excited to start talking about what I’ve been reading. I’ve been in & out of the blog but from now on, you’ll be seeing consistent content from me! I’m looking forward to getting to know all of the readers on here 🙂 And I promise, I’ll do an introductory article about myself soon!
There’s nothing like snuggling underneath the blankets on a rainy day and reading a book. That’s why today I’ll be sharing my top 5 favorite books on Wattpad. I’ve been on the platform since 2015 and love the community. Be forewarned, many of these are cliches (I can’t help it). Not only are these stories awesome, the book covers are beautiful. Here they are, in no particular order:
Cupid’s Match by Lauren Palphreyman

With over 49 million reads, a pilot episode on CW seed, and physical copies to be released on October 1, 2019- this book is simply amazing. It’s fantasy, adventure, and romance all wrapped into one. The book follows Lila who’s been matched with the original love god himself, Cupid. Once she discovers that cupids are real, all hell breaks loose and she find herself in the middle of a supernatural war.
Lauren does an excellent job developing the main characters. Each has their unique backstory that ties in with the overarching plot of the book. The dialogue and action scenes are well-written as well. Lila is a strong-headed protagonist and Cupid is a trouble maker so you can imagine what a pairing they make together.
How to Be a Girl by Ivey Choi

After Miles, Jordan’s crush, laughs in her face from her confession she becomes determined to learn how to be a girl. Even Jordan admits that she doesn’t see herself as girlfriend material as she’s always been ‘one of the guys’ and with zero romantic experience. With help from her friends (Shriya and Dev), Jordan learns what it means to be a girl, and the real challenge of what it means to be herself.
When I read the book, I was 19 and that’s Jordan’s age. I found the book to be relatable, funny, and it’s overall a great coming of age story. Shriya is a joy to read because of how blunt and straightforward she is. When Jordan feels troubled and doesn’t know what to do, she helps her figure it out. Dev and Jordan’s banter is hilarious and his back story is intriguing as well.
The Art of Falling by Em Slough

Two ex-best friends, Somi Han and Joshua Kang have a history together. On a early New Year’s Morning, Joshua’s brother, Jack, drives home and kills Somi’s 17 year old brother. A year and a half later, Somi decides to move into the city and her next door neighbor turns out to be the only and only, Joshua Kang.
Em Slough is my favorite writer on Wattpad. All of her books are a jem to read, but I’m a sucker for angst so I chose this story to feature. From having to make new friends to being forced to face her past (and consequently her fears) this book is heartbreakingly beautiful.
Lemon Drops and Candy Shops by Kelly Ge

Hana Witschire is a happy go lucky girl that is loved by everyone. Luke Wilkes is the arrogant golden boy of May Fields High. He has an irresistible sweet tooth. She works at Witschire’s, the candy shop in town. Slowly, they build a budding friendship through witty comebacks and lemon drops.
Written in a screenplay-dialogue story, Kelly Ge writes in a poignant manner. Their banter back and fourth is so smooth and Luke’s pick up lines are even better. I really enjoyed her being to be empathetic towards him and vice versa. More than what they show through their exterior they both have tough realities. Trust doesn’t come easy for either of them, but Hana and Luck slowly learn to receive help from each other. 11/10 would recommend.
Island Vibes by Molly

Callie after graduating college is offered a full time paid position in paradise by her parents. While working there, she meets Noah Flores, who’s care-free and adventurous. She starts to develop a crush on him, but there’s one problem: he has a girlfriend. What happens next? Read more to find out!
Romance comedy is one of favorites to read. I’m a romantic so I don’t really get tired of those cliche tropes XD However, Molly has done a great job of developing both characters. They are so down to earth with real problems (despite it happening in paradise LOL). There are a couple of plot twists too that I didn’t see coming. The way its written, the way Callie develops feelings for Noah is realistic. This is one of those books that once you start reading you can’t put down!
That’s it for today’s post, if you decide to read any of these books please comment down below! I’d love to talk about it and hear your thoughts. I’m curious to see if anybody is also an avid wattpad user or what *your* favorite books are.
I don’t read from Wattpad, but I do read books that were originally Wattpad books– like FOLLOW ME BACK by AV Geiger & WHAT HAPPENED THAT NIGHT by Deanna Cameron (<— reading now). THE ART OF FALLING needs to go on my list. That looks cute!!
All of these sounds fantastic! I know people always have a “meh” attitude towards wattpad books, but they actually have some gems there <3
