farewell, june
we’ve officially surpassed gemini season and JUNE IS OVER. it simultaneously felt like a loooooong month and over in a second. the first week of june was in new york for book con; that was a really quick trip. i spent the remainder of the week at home recovering from the exhaustion that is book expo and book con (if you know, you know).
my sister came to LA from NYC a few days after i got back. the weekend was a flurry of taking photos for our ballet studio, helping her LA pop-up shop, and catching up with old friends. it was also my birthday, but that was almost an afterthought. because i was so caught up in busyness of life, i didn’t think too much about turning 21.

@ openaire finally tried salt & straw!!! has become one of my favorite ice cream places :”) @ alfred’s coffee birthday noodles :”) – if you know, you know tried this new matcha place that opened near my yoga studio
then, my ballet studio’s summer program started and it has been 😤💪🏻. rough, but also refreshing. i missed having a routine and set block of time where i could feel productive and do things (aka school, now that i realize). since there was So Much in the beginning of june, i started to feel burnt out and overwhelmed. forcing myself to DO THINGS has become rewarding. but since intensive started, it’s (kinda) taken over my life lol. i’ve been doing BBG and whole30 as well; it’s been a WILD RIDE.
june has been a crazy month. i took my finals during the first week and then fINISHED JUNIOR YEAR. it was such a liberating to leave school knowing that i had (barely) survived and that i was *this* much closer to graduating high school. i was a junior escort (juniors with high grades escort graduates during the grad ceremony) for my school’s graduation, which was not as great as i imagined lol. it was hot during graduation and graduation practice so i was sitting in the sun for awhile.
at least i didn’t have to wear BLACK in the sun BRUNCH !!
and then for about two weeks i was kind of chilling at home, making plans, and just enjoying some time off. a whole bunch of brunch dates (i love brunch dates) and i took an ACT (hah.), so my summer didn’t really start when school ended, it kind of started when i finished my ACT.
one super exciting thing was that I SAW HAMILTON. literally i have been waiting to see hamilton for 3 years and it was such a surreal experience to finally be able to see it. it was definitely different hearing the songs from the sf cast and not the original but it was great to watch the show on stage and not just hearing it. i cried like 5 times heh.
the room where it happens me & a cute lil beach in michigan
and then i was off in the midwest for a week! i talked about my time in chicago in this post, so definitely check it out for pictures and a short recap. i don’t do a lot of domestic traveling so this was the first time i had been in an american state that wasn’t on the west coast in like, 4 years. chicago was amazing thought and a place i definitely plan on returning to.
i write this post waiting for my plane heh
then i went home for 36 hours and now i am off to taiwan for the month!

june is over. wild. the days passed so slowly, but at the same time, i can’t believe it’s actually over. i didn’t do much this month. a lot of staying home, watching netflix, eating, and sleeping. i did start working at boba guys though! it’s been fun, but also tiring.
honestly, this hasn’t been a great month. i lost a lot of my motivation, and i’ve been feeling pretty disconnected/isolated from people. i knew this was going to happen – it’s hard being so far away from friends, especially when i literally lived in the same room as my room during the school year. i really miss my roommate and my other friends from college; time differences also make it harder to stay in touch. these days, i just don’t really feel like doing anything….. (sigh.) i did kinda spontaneously (re)dye my hair so i guess that’s something
here’s a collage of some food i ate this month:

i did get to meet up with kaitlin for the first time in about 1.5 years! we went to walnut creek, grabbed some food and boba, and shopped a bit 🙂

kristy:

june was a crazy month. i can’t believe i finished school on such a high note, and got confirmed for my internship! my classes were crazy difficult, i pushed myself past my limit, and probably held an unhealthy amount of stress. now that summer is finally starting (can anyone else hear the wildcats cast singing “What time is it?”) i can relax for a bit before i start working. after celebrating my birthday, i’ve started to become more introspective on my goals, in particular what i need to prepare before returning back to university again.
tbh the best parts of my month have been in the last week. i went to get dinner with my parents, visited ikea (the loml), and got poke with friends. i’ve also been watching a new drama called (www:search) and it’s honestly what kept me sane especially during finals week. summer break is the best because it’s given me so much more time to have fun and i love it. i’ll definitely have some more pictures in the july recap to share what i’ve been doing 🙂
media consumed
so. bastille released their album this past month. and we are in tears. i also kiiiiiinda got into BTS after book con. (kinda not really??) boy with luv was stuck in my head; i know all the members beyond just their name (my fave is jimin). that is all, pretty much. i was also listening to old kpop songs that made me REAL nostalgic (echm wedding dress, haru haru, what do you know. i’m EMO.)
i got a bunch of new books while at book expo/con and felt re-inspired to read again. :”) but i also have like, no time to read right now so THAT SUCKS. i finished pachinko, which has become one of my favoritesssss. i also started the starless sea & finished re-reading the night circus (oh my GOD) and i can feel the magic.
despite all the plane flying i have been doing, i haven’t really read or watched anything this month OOPS. (unless you count catcher in the rye for my summer reading homework) i did finally make my summer playlist! not as good as my playlist last year tbh but that’s really okay because it will probably grow through the new few weeks.
like i said earlier, lots of netflix this month! most recently, i’ve been kinda obsessed with how to get away with murder. i also partially re-watched mr. sunshine and strong woman do bong soon, as well as watching some of new girl and the good place.
kristy:
two words. monsta. x. i got into them this month. i love their music because they have a good mix of meaningful songs and fun, catchy beats to listen to (alligator, dramarama). they’re a seven member group and honestly one of the most genuine people in the kpop industry.
shownu, the leader, is so kind hearted and all the members adore him. don’t get me wrong through- they’re all memes (LOL) and they have a lot of fun no matter what they’re doing. i’m so glad i found them :’) they recently released a song called, “Who Do You Love?” completely in english, if you want to get a sense of their music style!! tropical night and ready or not are my favorites <3 there’s also a mix of ed sheeran, khalid, and camila in the playlist- enjoy!! I’ve also been watching korean dramas, but i’ll save that for another post.
foresights of july
JULY! summer hasn’t really hit me because, as i type, it’s overcast and i’m wearing long pants and a light sweater. (weather is weird??) but here’s what’s planned for july (so far):
- summer intensive – will take up all of july & finish in the last week
- BBG – hoping to do this workout program along with ballet 👊🏻
- weekly vids & blog posts!! – i have PLANS
- the royal ballet’s mayerling – they’re performing in LA and i’m probably going to cry. the royal ballet is my favorite ballet company ever 🥺
july basically consists of two things:
- ya girl is traveling the whole entire july !! im doing a summer program in taiwan for basically the entire month, which i am so excited about because i have really been looking forward to this trip for basically forever.
- my 17th birthday. which is crazy because i don’t feel 17 and 17 feels so weird. a post on that to come but i had many thoughts about 16 that i felt i needed to get out there.
priscilla:
so! excited! for! july! ……not. i feel like it’s going to be another month of working and, whenever i’m not working, wasting time at home. i know i technically have control over my time and i can do whatever i want with my summer, but…..it really doesn’t feel that simple. i’m just tired mentally and emotionally, even though i haven’t done anything lol. i will try to keep up with my summer goals/challenges – i think limiting phone use and cutting out social media (temporarily) will be good for me :’) also ahh i definitely need to finish cleaning my room. i was originally planning to have that done by june 9, but that didn’t happen (oof).
i’m honestly just kinda ready for summer to be over and to go back to school, but i know i’ll be super done with school about a month into the semester…. there’s just no winning haha
a few things i’m looking forward to for june:
- got7’s concert in oakland!
- hopefully hanging out with friends more
- finally having a clean room !!!! (not looking forward to the actual cleaning)
kristy:
july is going to be another busy month. i’m so excited and nervous! here’s what i’ll be up to:
- cousin’s wedding!
- organizing my goals for the summer + action plans
- working on my secret project
- more blog posts!! (maybe film a video??)
- start of my internship!
- family trip :’)
