farewell, september!
september was filled with lots of productivity. i resumed school after my summer hiatus; we started rehearsing for our annual ballet performance (‘snow white & the seven dwarves’ this year!); i still managed to read and blog! i’d stay it was pretty good. maybe it was because autumn is here, and it’s my favorite time of year (QUEEN OF RHYMING~), or maybe it was because i was motivated to stay more organized. whatever the reason, september was spectacular! it helps that there were so many amazing releases! but i had no time to read them… UGH.
books i read:
on the blog
reviews:
- HERO OF AGES, by brandon sanderson
- QUEEN OF SHADOWS, by sarah j. maas
- THE REST OF US JUST LIVE HERE, by patrick ness
features & memes:
- ten of my favorite first words
- ten books i plan to DEVOUR this season
- ten books to read if you like FLUFF
other:
- a bookish ode to BADLANDS
- seven ways to improve your instagram account
- the final part in my ‘welcome to new york’ series
- how to stay organized
- last month’s recap
i was also featured on STAY BOOKISH this past month! thank you, hazel, for interviewing me! it was an honor for me to be featured on her blog because it’s honestly one of my favorites, and motivated me to start blogging in the first place!

HALSEY HAS BEEN MY LIFE. if you’ve seen my blog and social media, you’d know i was raving about the badlands album for a good portion of this month. and for a good reason too because IT IS SO AMAZING. if you haven’t listened to it yet, go now. i even dedicated a blog post to it.
i’ve also been listening to some k-indie mixes on 8tracks while i study. i’ve concluded that k-ballads and k-indie songs are SO MUCH better than k-pop/k-hiphop songs. the only time i really listen to music (besides ballet) is when i’m studying and personally i’m not a huge fan of intense music while trying to concentrate. some people get off on that (like my sister, who loves EDM), but not me. here was my favorite mix last month:
quote of the month:
“I should mention that just because you pursue a second (or third or fourth!) passion doesn’t mean you’re less passionate about your first. So, just because I’m interested in exploring film or video games doesn’t mean writing novels is any less important. It just means I have more of options for the future!”

foresights for october
october is going to be insanely busy. like last month, there are going to be a lot of exciting book releases i’m looking forward to. YAY!! the bad news is that i won’t have enough time to read them all of them. (also like last month) *sigh* september to february is the busiest time of year for me. it’s only going to get more intense from here. my mom is going to shanghai, china to visit some relatives for the first two weeks of the month and i’m sure our house is going to fall into disaster mode while she’s gone. MOTHER, COME BACK~ i’ll also be flying to arizona for a day for a ballet audition. *flails from stress*
goals for the next month:
- get caught up on school (YOU CAN DO IT!! maybe..)
- take care of your body and don’t injury yourself, AGAIN.
- continue using the planner & doing bbg
- schedule all blog posts the weekend before; try to have at least two posts per week
- get through the month without falling apart
Girl you read such awesome books in September!! I’m going to have a crazy October as well, but I hope you have a fab month!!
Best of luck for your audition and all your rehearsals! That’s so exciting! 🙂
Ooh, you read some books that are on my TBR pile! I’m planning on reading Everything Everything soon as I’ve heard SUCH GOOD THINGS! ;D
Ahhhhh I’m glad you still had time to read! I’m having trouble finding time/energy to do anything other than nap and watch tv at the moment which is sad because a) i’m not reading all of the awesome books i have aka QUEEN OF SHADOWS and b) i’m struggling to find content for the blog. BLECH.
Hope October treats you well! Happy Halloween month!
GO WITH YOUR MOTHER AND VISIT MEEEE. And yes, go do your ballet, and I post all the photos of you performing, please. *hugs* And I’m sure you can do all your goals.
“there are going to be a lot of exciting book releases i’m looking forward to. YAY!! the bad news is that i won’t have enough time to read them all of them” I CAN RELATE TO YOU IN A SPIRITUAL LEVEL XAN.

HALSEY IS A LIFESTYLE. I’m very pleased to see the book blogosphere being so in love with her. Her songs are frickin’ amazing.
I’m sending you positive energy when you go to your ballet audition.
I love your blog, it is so lovely and awesome! The design is beautiful. Good luck for your ballet audition! Yes, I think that will be my goal for October too: get through this month without falling apart. There is just not enough time in the day to do everything! I have a feeling that both blogging AND my schoolwork are suffering… oops. If only there was some sort of magical spell that would make everything fall into place… excuse me while I go consult my ancient magic books and polish my magic wand… 🙂
