farewell, july
alexandra:

this summer is feels like the most “un-summer” i’ve ever experienced; likely because it honestly still feels like march 5237897th. BUT ANYWAY. july is over! and i’m in shock and denial! i’ve been incredibly busy with my ballet studio’s summer program so it’s honestly just been all work and little mental energy for much else. oftentimes it feels like i’ve done nothing at all when in actuality i haven’t had a chance to stop.
besides ballet, i’ve been occupying my time by organizing my other creative projects (aka i started a readathon but more details on that later) and spent too much time on discord lmao. but honestly, it’s a wonderful reminder on how great internet communities can be. :’) also!!! i signed up for community college classes and am planning on pursuing an undergrad degree ?!!! i decided to do it the last few days of the month, but… yeah it’s happening.
priscilla:
how is july over?? :’) i kinda relate to xan in that i feel like i’ve done nothing….except i actually kinda HAVE done nothing. ok i guess that’s not entirely true but sometimes i just feel like my time is all slipping away and i’m not using it well enough ahh.
this month, i’ve been spending my time: calling friends, some baking here and there, hanging out with a few friends (socially distanced!), reading, watching netflix, maintaining my duolingo streak, trying to learn python, and stressing out about whether or not i should go back to new york for the fall semester. okay so yeah that’s quite a few different things (no wonder i’m tired all the time HAHA), and i guess it’s been an okay month overall. the one thing i’ve been struggling with is exercising… i’ve been having some issues with my contacts so my vision has been blurry for the past 2 or so weeks, which REALLY takes away my motivation to work out :’) but i was playing a lot of just dance at the beginning of the month and that was really fun, so i’m excited to get back to that once i get new contacts!
homemade coffee buns!! some pics from a facetime photoshoot with my friend boba :’) yet another sunset this milk bread took SO long to make but at least it was yummy
nicole:
sorry, we’re so far into 2020, i’m still processing how that happened. wow, what HAVE i been doing? this month passed by in a blur as i steadily took on more and more responsibilities in an effort to keep boredom away, and as a result i’ve been fairly sleep-deprived, but loving every second. (basically, i finally accepted that i’m a workaholic). what does suck is that because i’m so busy now, i have so little time to keep in touch with my friends :/
i’m also EXTREMELY stressed about fall recruitment for internships (the world is ending, but recruitment waits for no one) and figuring out how to transition from marketing to human resources/human capital consulting. but aside from that, i’ve been doing a little more art, and focusing on korean a little more (maybe i should work on my chinese too…).
media consumed
alexandra:
as i type i’m listening to folklore. if you live under a rock, don’t care for taylor swift, or went camping, taylor swift surprised us with an album release this month and i was here for it !!!!! it was really different from her other works but i grew to love it. ;-; my favorite songs are: mirrorball, my tears ricochet, and hoax.
in terms of shows, i’ve been making my way through avatar: the last airbender (for the first time) and it’s so good i’m genuinely upset that i didn’t watch it earlier. IT’S SO GOOD. if you have atla related content,,, send it my way because i’m HERE FOR IT.

priscilla:
oooo i’ve been actually reading/watching a few things this month so yay – i finally have something substantial to write about here HAHA.
shows:
- finally finished parks & rec! i’m kinda sad it’s over, but i really enjoyed it :))
- also finished crash landing on you – quite unrealistic even for a kdrama, but still fun to watch!
- started watching it’s okay to not be okay since it’s trending on netflix (VERY weird so far)
- started the great british baking show and i love it so far
movies:
- train to busan – this was like my 5th/6th time watching but i always love it :’)
- frances ha – watched this with friends; not quite my vibe but it still was pretty interesting!
books:
- these shallow graves – an interesting YA crime/mystery/romance/historical fiction novel set in 1800s new york city! definitely enjoyed it even though there were some cliche moments
- the poppy war – very dark but definitely kept me on my toes
- nimona (re-read!) – also such a cute read :’)
- also one of my friends published her first novel!! it’s called the we and the they and i’m VERY excited to read it :))
nicole:
oh, wow. like i said, i’ve been fairly busy this month, so hmmm…in terms of shows, i’m currently watch the kdrama “it’s okay to not be okay” which, GUYS. IT’S A WHOLE WORLD OF HURT, strongly recommend. i’ve also been reading…a lot of manhwas (chinese/korean comics that are translated and not on webtoon). i’m not sure how it happened, but here i am at 5 am, reading away.
i’ve also…been watching a lot of BTS videos. i LOVE bts, but this month, i’ve fallen back down the very very deep hole and have been rewatching every. single. run. episode. i’m not ready for the comeback next month. (also oh my god, your eyes tell has been on REPEAT ever since it released. im cry)
foresights of august
alexandra:
i have many!! exciting!! things!! planned for august and i’m ready for it !!!!! for one, i’m hoping to blog more because, in all honesty, i truly miss blogging. (no promises though because,,, i always say i’ll blog more lol.) but the Main Event of the month will be NOSTALGIATHON! i announced it on youtube a few weeks ago (and will have another blog post rehashing before the event) but it’s a ten-day readathon i’m hosting with tiffany @ readbytiffany and breana @ milkyboos!
goals for the month:
- participate in nostalgiathon
- start school ?!!
- rediscover my creativity~
priscilla:
i have nothing crazy planned for august! i DO have to make up my mind about whether or not i’m going back to new york,,, it’s quite last-minute but i’m trusting that everything will work out! besides that, it’ll probably be more of the same things i’ve been doing haha but hopefully i can be more physically active in august!
nicole:
going to cornell, ithaca’s much more isolated and since i really only had two months on campus (since i transferred from vanderbilt last semester), i’m very ready to head back! i’m also living an apartment with friends for the first time and i’m VERY hyped about that, but also every time rent is taken from my account i cry a little. is this adulthood? i’m not a fan. classes don’t actually start until september but…quarantine. you know how it is!!
@Alexandra: I rewatch ATLA last month with my sister and it’s such a great experience because it makes me very nostalgic, but also now that I’m older, I’m able to appreciate the story more! I basically raves about it on my screen rambles 😂 Also, nostalgiathon?? I’m so signing up for this!
@Priscilla: I need to continue Crash Landing on You haha it’s been months and I ship all the ships (and fall for the second lead 🥺). I agree it’s very fun to watch so I don’t know why I keep putting it off!
@Nicole: Everyone seems to be obsessed with It’s Okay Not To Be Okay! I’ve been silently monitoring the drama on twitter because everyone in my country just watching it and it always became a trending topic everytime a new episode airs 😂 It does seem painful though so I’m going to wait until it’s finished so I can binge watch it! 😅
Lovery wrap up and I hope you all have a great August!
I can’t believe it’s already August too! Taylor Swift’s new album is definitely one of my favs at the moment. Thanks for sharing a great wrap-up 🙂
the coffee buns look amazing, and the pizza is making me so hungry 😫
