farewell, june
alexandra:

isabelle (animal crossing) reminded me the year is half over and i’m feeling all sorts of dsgyajhklgds no thanks. but farewell, june! i’ve been sharing monthly diaries on youtube, but this past month was so rough that i couldn’t bring myself to film/put something together.
in the beginning of the month, i celebrated my 22nd birthday in quarantine! it wasn’t so bad. i woke up early, ate noodles, had some cake, and called it a day. my ballet studio’s summer program started and i’ve been extremely busy with classes. i also started another graphic design course at parsons, so more classes. honestly, i’ve just been overwhelmed with work lol.
but the main reason i was feeling MEH was because i was physically unwell. i’m unsure what i have but i’ve been dizzy and nauseous for the bulk of june; because of that, i’ve had 0 motivation to do anything. i visited the doctor’s a few times and started taking some vitamins, but still unsure what the culprit is. i’m hoping extra sleep, taking a break from exercising (CRIES), and hydrating properly will help. ;–;
SMALL BUT POSITIVE THINGS: got some clothes & shared a haul on tiktok (lmao am i a Teen now??), my animal crossing island is lit, low key came out on twitter (happy pride!!!!!), social justice social justice social justice.
priscilla:
ah, another month gone. i have been in quarantine for 3 whole months, with 2 months (or so) to go!!! wow. i can’t believe 2020 is halfway over whaaat. time is wack. as a friend put it, the days have been going slowly,, but at the same time, the month really flew by, as usual.
things i did in june (side note: if you couldn’t tell, i really like lists HAHA):
- baked quite a few things – matcha mochi cookies (very time-consuming, idk if it was really worth it), banana chocolate chip muffins, chocolate chip olive oil cookies (kinda tasted like normal choc chip cookies but still good!), butterscotch brownies/blondies (this one was kind of a fail), and matcha mochi brownies! the unlinked recipes are all from the facebook group subtle asian cooking, i highly recommend joining :)) out of all of these, the ones i’d make again are the choc chip cookies and the matcha mochi brownies (super super easy to make). lmk if you try any of these recipes!
- saw my first friend since quarantine started :’) yay for human interaction
- took some photos with my dslr after not using it for a while (oops)
- stayed inside too much
- called a lot of friends
also, here are a few things i’ve been loving in june: writing letters (!!), the app marco polo (which has been described as “snapchat for old people” but it’s pretty great), baking + eating everything myself hahaha, and of course, music!! i’ll link my current favorites below <3
june was definitely a lot less busy than may, but i’m not sure if that’s a good thing. honestly, i feel like i’ve been wasting a lot more time, and i’ve also been oversleeping a lot. i haven’t been working out consistently either ahhh, kinda feeling like a mess 🙁
media consumed
alexandra:
i tried to watch more movies (worked for like a week) and read more books (lasted a day)! baby steps. i watched 13th, little women (rewatch), and amélie; i ended up loving all of them and became ;–; during all of these movies. would highly recommend!!! as for books, i finished minor feelings, by cathy park hong (SO GOOD) and am making my way through a little life, which is real brutal. for music, i’ve been listening to SEVENTEEN’s heng:garae and not much else honestly.
priscilla:
STILL watching parks and rec (and still loving it). also still watching avatar, crash landing on you, and itaewon class, all of which have been very enjoyable. i also rewatched demon slayer with a friend and it’s so good :’) even if you’re not into anime, i’d definitely recommend, although it is pretty intense/graphic/violent.
in terms of movies, i watched 13th, just mercy, miss juneteenth, and perks of being a wallflower. just mercy kinda blew me away (and also made me cry a lot), i would DEFINITELY recommend it. it’s free to rent on youtube for the rent being, so check it out!!
did not read toooo much this month but i finally finished the purpose-driven life! also read the rose and the dagger (did not love it as much as i loved the wrath and the dawn). i’ve still been working my way through the color of compromise (history of racism in america and how the church has played a role), intuitive eating, and mere christianity.
as promised, here are the songs i’ve had on repeat recently! the first few are older favorites that i’m somehow still not tired of (haha), but the songs of the month are definitely wild by local sound and 814 by isla vista worship!
foresights of july
alexandra:
ahh a new month. it’s absolutely WILD that it’s already summer and time is a thing that continues even when you don’t want to. but here are some goals to keep me going:
- survive my classes (ballet/work, and school)
- launch the twirling pages shop 👀
- post consistently on youtube, instagram, and the blog!! (i really miss blogging and making things without feeling a sense of impending failure,,)
- create & stick to a morning/night routine
priscilla:
i always look back at the goals i set the previous month and feel disappointed hahaha. i really got off track this past month 🙁 i know i needed a break, but i think i’m still lacking some balance. i did not write any blog posts, exercise every day, study korean every day, finish going through my camera roll (getting there though!!), or read 4 books, so….. that’s a bit discouraging HA. gonna be a little less ambitious this month i guess!
for july, i’m not going to set super specific goals (even though i know the whole thing about SMART goals), but here are a few things i want to do MORE of instead: study korean, bake/cook, blog, practice photography, organize my digital spaces (camera roll, music library, bookmarks, etc), pray, read, journal, exercise/dance, explore new music, and unplug.
Alexandra’s room is so aesthetic!! I can’t believe this year is halfway over too, it went by so fast :(( Also, I love the picture of the ducks (I love ducks tbh, they’re so cute). I’m so excited to see the shop!! I love this post, you guys’ posts are always so pretty and fun to read 🥰🥰
