hiiii it’s kaitlin! so i recently spent a couple days in chicago and wanted to share some trip deets and do a little recap of it all (since i am kinda way too awkward to vlog the whole thing.) i hope you guys enjoy my pics and this post!
day 1: arrival
navy pier & ferris wheel navy pier & botanical garden ?? giordano’s deep dish o hare airport
so we arrived in chicago around 1pm, which left us for a couple of hours during the day to do stuff but the weather was kinda bad when we came — cloudy and cold — so me and my family couldn’t do that much outdoor stuff while we were there because it was cold and our layers were uh, very inadequate for chicago.
we went to navy pier, took some pictures, and took care of the “we need to eat deep dish pizza” thing off our list. soooo filling but soo good.
day 2: everything touristy
ping tom park textile exhibit @ art institute southeast asian art exhibit cloud gate / the bean view from willis tower dinner: brightwok kitchen
this was kind of our only full day in chicago and the day where most of the touristy stuff got done. we started the day in ping tom park in chinatown, which was a really pretty park along the river near where we were staying.
and then we would proceed to spend literally FOUR HOURS in the chicago art institute. the museum is so big and honestly, four hours wasn’t even enough to get through the entire thing. there were so many parts of the musuem i wanted to take my time on, you really could spend a whole day there. however, by the end of the four hours, i had only seen less than 2% of the art institute’s entire collection and my feet were dead.
millennium park was right next to the institute, so i most definitely went to get my cloud gate pictures. it was such a nice day too so you can see the sky in the pictures that i took.
fun fact: we spent so much time in the art institute, we went into the museum with super gloomy and cloudy weather, and left the museum to a beautiful blue sky.
and because the weather was so nice, we hit willis tower and the glass box thingies that lets you see the entire city while standing in a glass box. it was so pretty and i honestly thought i wouldn’t be scared of being in the glass box but my heart dropped a little as i was standing in it. the city was beautiful though.
day 3: departure
brunch: yolked THAT VIEW !!
so on this day, we had to leave chicago at night, so we still had some time during the day to do stuff. we decided to rent bikes and ride along lake michigan and the river that went through chicago, which was so beautiful. honestly one of my favorite things about chicago and i could picnic along the river for the whole day no problem.
day 4: a quick return
interior !!
so this day was technically not supposed to happen, but because we were passing through illinois to get to o hare from michigan (where we stayed after leaving chicago) we went to 3 arts club cafe, a cafe that i wanted to go to but didn’t have a chance when we were originally in chicago. 3 arts club cafe is inside a restoration hardware store and it is soooo beautiful. we didn’t eat much (bc the food is so very not cheap) but it was so nice to be in the area and the vibes it gave off were so relaxing. definitely an aesthetic spot to take pictures.
and that was chicago.
kaitlin 🙂
