farewell, august
alexandra:
august slipped away into a moment in time.
taylor swift, folklore

miss swift speaking the truth in august; it really did slip away. this past month was incredibly busy. i finished up my ballet summer program and was feeling a little burnt out, so i decided to take a few days off my phone. it was pretty refreshing and honestly what i needed to start the month.
then, i participated in nostalgiathon(!!!) which was something i was looking forward to for a while. my ballet intensive was honestly v draining (and i wasn’t feeling the best in terms of health) so a week of just reading and watching the babysitters club? yes.
then the most exciting thing: i started school !!! this decision to go back to school was definitely a little spontaneous. but once the idea came into my head, i decided to simply go for it. so here i am, an ~official~ college student! i’m planning on studying communications and hopefully transferring in two years, but currently taking GE classes.
priscilla:
the fact that august is ending is a little terrifying, because that means classes start in about a WEEK. part of me is very excited to have more structure and routine, but part of me is stressed and Not Ready for classes to begin ahhh. i’m mostly looking forward to classes even though everything’s remote and i’ll just be at home for the whole semester. i think i just felt kinda restless/aimless during summer, so i’m excited for the change!
things i did during august:
- called a lot of friends (as usual)
- actually met up with a few friends :’) the highlight for sure!
- baked a bit
- had too much boba – thanks, mom
- read a little (finally putting the kindle i got like 5 years ago to use)
- watched a little too much netflix
- painted
- obsessed about the enneagram… still not sure what type i am but drove my friend(s) crazy in the process HAHA
- dyed my hair!!

overall august was a pretty chill and uneventful month, which i’m definitely not mad about haha. i think i needed some relaxation because i’ve been kinda burned out (from what? only God knows), and i’m going to try to rest more before classes start :’)
media consumed
alexandra:

i finally started reading again in august and it felt SO GOOD. i missed being immersed in stories ;–; The Poppy War was subtle asian book club’s book. of the month and it basically consumed my entire being!! again!!! i think it was my third?? time reading it and it was still so so good. i honestly can’t wait to reread it once i’m done with The Burning God.
in terms of shows, i finally!!!!!! finished avatar: the last airbender. it was so so good (as expected). i watched the babysitters’ club with everyone for nostalgiathon and it was so so good!! (i realize this is me just obsessing over the media i consumed but.. yeah.) and lastly, i’ve been watching love o2o with my friends tiffany @ readbytiffany and breanan @ milkyboos. it’s been really fun and refreshing to watch shows with other people via netflix watch parties. :’)
priscilla:
didn’t read toooo many books this month, but i finally finished the sacred enneagram (which i started forever ago). tbh i thought it was kinda just okay, definitely going to look into other ennegram books. if you happen to be an expert on the enneagram, please let me know because i literally cannot get it out of my mind HAHA. i also read the we and the they, which i mentioned last month! i read the first half in one sitting and thought it was suuuper cool and unique, then got distracted by other things (oops) but ended up finishing it a few days ago! it’s definitely one of the most unique novels i’ve read, and i really loved kyra’s story-telling style – go check it out!!
in terms of netflix, i finally finished itaewon class with my friend (the ending was kinda anticlimactic and disappointing), started community and indian matchmaking (both very entertaining), and am still watching it’s okay to not be okay (getting really interesting) and avatar (one of my all-time favorites)!
foresights of september
alexandra:
september will mostly be focused on getting into the swing of online learning/academic learning, and trying to build better habits. i’m hoping to build and stick to a consistent morning and nighttime routine. it’s something that’s really beneficial for my wellbeing but i find it really hard to stay consistent. ;–; aside from that, september will likey be more relaxed/chill than august!
priscilla:
i’m not too sure what to expect from september besides classes starting tbh. even though i won’t be flying 3000 miles across this country this semester, i feel like it’ll be a big transition (looking at my sleep schedule, oof) and i’m not sure if i’m mentally prepared ahaha. anyway, i’m feeling somewhat hopeful for september and excited for the ~fall vibes~, and it’ll definitely be interesting to see how things turn out! wishing you all a peaceful, safe, and happy september <3
I’m getting obsessed with cdrama because of The Untamed and Love o2o is high on my list! I’ll watch it as a reward after my thesis defense in October (if I didn’t rewatch The Untamed again, that is :D)
ooh!! your hair looks really pretty, my mom only let my brother and i start meeting our friends in october/november (:
