five reasons to read truthwitch, by susan dennard + GIVEAWAY

truthwitch is book that’s been on my TBR for YEARS. i remember all! the! hype! when it was first released (the twitter chats, clans, etc), but i just… never got around to it? (just like harry potter. oops.) BUT. when i was contacted to do this blog post & giveaway, i just knew this was my chance to finally read the book. and i did! i finished it and guess what? i adored it. SO. 

here are five reasons you should read truthwitch, asap:

the magical world kinda resembles avatar: the last airbender

okay, i KNOW it sucks to compare one story to another but AVATAR. the truthwitch world is so cool because it’s elemental magic (aka what i’m really trying to say) and it’s my fave! like, waterbending waterwitch, airbending airwitch, and so many other cool things. there’s also aetherwitches and voidwitches, which probably have my favorite powers. if i had to choose, i’d want to be a bloodwitch (even though our main antagonist is a bloodwitch but…)

the friendships are beautiful

there’s nothing i love more than books with strong friendships. although i love my romance and love-y dove-y relationships, solid friendships really really get to me. i feel like it’s something we rarely see – especially in fantasies. give me the girl and/or gender neutral gangs!! 

the romance is PEAK

i know i just said i’d take friendship over romance, but this is the best of both worlds! the slow-burn and sexual tension is high IT’S GREAT. they’re also constantly arguing and kiiiinda have the hate-to-love trope i love.

safi, our lead, is loud and angry

i recently realized i love (LOVE) angry girls. the want-to-scream, kinda-destructive, relentless-pursuit type of girls? my fave. safi is exactly (or almost exactly) that kinda girl. she will do whatever it takes to save the people she loves and you don’t want to get on her bad side. 

royal feuds!!!

i’m a sucker for a good ball scene. the dress up! the dancing! the food! spoiler but not really? there’s a good ball scene in the book. not to mention, the love interest is a prince?! and there are other fun things related to royalty??? brb living vicariously through the lives of magical royals. i can imagine that, in another life, i was part of royalty too, right? (in my princess diaries dreams)
