some time last week, asti from oh! books posted about organizing your bookshelf by rainbow. i’d always wanted to do it before, but it always looked so hard. there are some spines/books that are multi-colored or have “rare” colors (echm brown) and where would they go?? what to do??? then i took epic reads quiz on ‘how you should organize your bookshelf’ and, lo and behold, i got rainbow. i think it was a sign from above.
so yesterday, i had some time to spare and began pulling books out and reorganizing by color. contrary to my first belief, the task was actually easy. (YEAH, I KNOW.) sorting books and colors was really relaxing, up until the end. i couldn’t fit things and the colors were kinda off and UGH. oh well, i’d managed. anyway, I FEEL LIKE A CHANGED PERSON. why didn’t i do this earlier?! my bookshelf is so aesthetically pleasing i just want to stare it all day. it’s simple; it’s beautiful; it’s colorful; it’s p e r f e c t. i may be exaggerating a little, but who cares? the point is, I LOVE IT.
reasons why YOU should reorganize your bookshelf by color:
you’re still not sure about reorganizing? here are some photos of MY newly colorful bookshelf:
is it beautiful? or is it beautiful?! i wasn’t joking when i said i could stare at these all day.
have i convinced you to reorganize your bookshelf yet?

Welcome to the dark side… or should I say rainbow side? Muhahaha!
I’m so glad you liked the results of organizing by color, because IT LOOKS SO GOOD! I could scroll up and down the pictures of your shelves for hours just because it makes me eyes so pretty. And I love that you included some reasons I didn’t think of why it’s good to organize by color. Together we shall convince the world! 😉
thank you so much!! and thank YOU for convincing me to rainbow-ify my bookshelf; you changed my life for the better. together we will attempt WORLD DOMINATION BY RAINBOW! one blog post at a time. 😉
A few weeks ago, I rearranged my bookshelves by color too! You’re right, it’s such an amazing thing. I have several series where some are in hardcover and some are in paperback; it drove me nuts seeing them next to one another. Now that I sorted by color, my shelves look awesome!
yes! i actually have multiple copies of the shatter me trilogy because i wanted the specific cover to match with hardcover/paperback, but when they arrived the sizes were still different. the frustration was too real. i’m glad you like your newly colorful bookshelves!
Alexandra, your bookshelves look AMAZING. I don’t organize my books in any particular way just because I’m super lazy but I do always like having books by the same author together so I don’t think this method would work for me but I do love seeing others who do their bookshelves this way. Also all your books are in such good condition?? How do you do it?
Okay, your bookshelves are absolutely GORGEOUS! I would organize my shelves…but I don’t have shelves (my parents still haven’t bought them) and I have to stack my books under and inside my desk.
But hopefully, when I do get shelves, I’m gonna follow your pattern because ASDFHELWHWHFLWJN JUST LOOK AT THOSE BOOKS <3
i didn’t get shelves until about six months ago, so i know exactly what you mean by stacks and stacks of books in my desk. i’m so glad i changed my shelves to rainbow because… RAINBOWWWW <333
