top ten tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by the broke and the bookish! you can find more information about it here.
if you’re unfamiliar with the term FLUFF, it basically means cute, romantic nonsense. when characters are being so adorable you’re squealing your head off? FLUFF. when you’re slapping yourself because the relationships are so darn cute? FLUFF. when you can’t stop flailing? FLUFF. now that you know what it means, here are ten books you need to read if you like fluffy contemporary books:
note: all photos link to goodreads or my review, if available
since you’ve been gone, by morgan matson; simon vs. the homo sapiens agenda, by becky albertalli; anna and the french kiss, by stephanie perkins
these books are MUST READS if you are even the slightest bit interested in cute contemporary novels. ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS is actually a series, which makes it all the better because MORE CUTE-NESS. i love these to death. no, seriously, go read them RIGHT NOW if you haven’t yet.
the fill-in boyfriend, by kasie west; maybe someday, by colleen hoover
i finished both of these in one sitting and stayed up waaaaaay past midnight to finish it. i literally gobbled these beauties up. THEY! WERE! SO! CUTE! *rereads over and over and over again*
this is what happy looks like, by jennifer e. smith; better off friends, by elizabeth eulberg; dash and lily’s book of dares, by david levithan and rachel cohn
the plot for these three are more cliché, but IT’S SO CUTE THAT IT DOESN’T EVEN MATTER. objectively speaking, these books were more mehhhh if you’re talking about character development, plots, writing, etc., BUT it was super adorable. honestly, who cares about anything else at this point?
fangirl, by rainbow rowell; to all the boys i’ve loved before, by jenny han
i fangirl for FANGIRL. i write love letters to TO ALL THE BOYS I’VE LOVED BEFORE. i love these two partially because they are freaking adorable, and partially because the covers are so beautiful i cry.
i’m such a fan of fluff and hey what do you know. i’ve read all but two of these books. which means we’re like basically on the same wavelength as i would consider many of these books some of my favourite books for fluff as well. guess i should go read simon vs and maybe someday now, right? thanks for sharing xan! xo
I love Since You’ve Been Gone and Fangirl! And Simon vs is such a cute story. I was certainly in love with the fluff. I need to read more Kassie West and should pick up The Fill in Boyfriend.
I generally like my fiction the dark and dreamy side but these covers are all so pretty and pastel! 😛 At the very least I’m a huge sucker for well-designed cover art…..
This is like THE ULTIMATE LIST. I’ve read 6/10 of these so I think that’s pretty good for me 🙂 I’m DYIIINNNG to read Morgan Matson’s book and Jenny Han’s 🙂
im a sucker for fluff! nothing makes me feel better than a good fluff lol. maybe its because i don’t have a boyfriend aha. i’ve never read since you’ve been gone, but according to your review its a summer book so i guess ill just wait for summer 2016. i loved simon vs, anna and the french kiss, maybe someday, fangirl and tatbilb. i havent read the others but i will check them out after reading your post <333
great post, xan!

This list is perfect! I absolutely love Anna and the French Kiss and Fangirl, and so many of these books have been on my TBR for ages. As much as I like gritty books, I love reading a fluffy contemporary everyone once in a while. They just make me smile 😛
These are good recommendations. I have read most of the books from your list. Sometimes we just need some fluff in between all the angsty or high fantasy books 🙂
I’M SO GLAD TO SEE MY TWO FAVES ON HERE. *BOW DOWN TO QUEEN JENNY AND QUEEN RAINBOW FOR RUINING NATALIE’S LIFE*.
This post was great! I love fluff! I’m a fluff fiend! There are a few on here that I haven’t read and I’m having to try bery hard to resist the urge to place a TBD order. CONTROL YOURSELF, WOMAN.
I love all of this books! (Well, I haven’t read Maybe Someday but maybe I should) Great recs! 🙂
I LOVE FLUFF. ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS AND FANGIRL – YASSS <3 Sadly I didn't love Dash and Lily 🙁 I really want to read most of these books though, especially Simon. I'm so bummed I haven't read it yet!
yes yes yes! 🙂 have you read Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson?
Hi! Found your archive tweet! I love and adore fangirl and to all the boys I’ve loved before! I agree the covers are incredible and the stories are fluff but what delectable fluff… I need to put since you’ve been gone, by morgan matson; simon vs. the homo sapiens agenda, by becky albertalli on my TBR list – they sound right up my alley… I’ve been meaning to read anna and the french kiss, by stephanie perkins – I’ve heard do many positive things about the series! This was a great top ten!
