top ten tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by the broke and the bookish! you can find more information about it here.
this week’s topic makes me a little excited and a little anxious because my LOOMING TBR PILE GLARING AT ME. i’m actually trying to read/finish as many books possible by reading five books at once and it’s reaaaaaally not working out. but i don’t want to stop in the middle because then i won’t be interested to start again! why did i do this to myself? anyway, onto the list!
arcs or review copies
a step towards falling, by cammie mcgovern; illuminae, by amie kaufman & jay kristoff; the trouble with destiny, by lauren morrill
these i either: got approved from netgalley, was contacted by the publisher, or traded for! i’m actually currently reading two of these right now, but the genres are so far off it’s hard to focus on either one. THE STRUGGLE. note to self: don’t ever try to read more than two books at once.
upcoming and highly anticipated
six of crows, by leigh bardugo; the rose society, by marie lu; winter, by marissa meyer; carry on, by rainbow rowell
there are so many fall releases, but i’m honestly so so so SO excited for these! i probably preordered it already. these are the books i will probably stop everything to pick up and read. maybe, possibly, PROBABLY.
i bought and just really want to read
on the fence, by kasie west; a mad, wicked folly, by sharon biggs waller; vengeance road, by erin bowman
spoiler: i’m posting a book haul soon because I BOUGHT WAY TOO MANY BOOKS THIS PAST MONTH. for one reason or another, i went crazy and just wanted to read all the things. hence, the currently-reading-five-books-and-dying.
I’ve had Mad Wicked Folly on my list for a while now too! I love books about artists (having study art history at university) so that one really piqued my interest. We’ll see how long it takes me to get around to reading it lol.
yes! there are hardly any books that focus on art, so i was immediately DRAWn to it. (DID YOU SEE MY PUN??? completely accidental.) i also heard it talks about feminism, which is a plus. the cover is beautiful too! gah, too many books and not enough time.
Dudddeee I had mixed feelings about ILLUMINAE & VENGEANCE ROAD, sadly 😪 They were like my most anticipated reads of the year, too. But A STEP TOWARD FALLING is one I’m really enjoying! I am SO SO excited for THE ROSE SOCIETY too omg it’s on my fall tbr as well. I hope you figure out your reading situation and burn through that TBR!!
xoxo,
Jen
noooooo! i’m around 20% finished with ILLUMINAE and it’s hard to understand what’s going on :/// i think it’s partly because i’m reading it with an e-reader and it feels like the pages with graphics are sort of cut off?? ugh, i don’t know what to feel.
Winter & Carry On! I can’t wait to read these two. And On The Fence and A Mad, Wicked Folly are books I’ve been eyeing too.
i’m so excited to read those too! i can’t believe the lunar chronicle series is ending. *sheds tear* thanks for visiting my blog! <33
the step over falling’s cover is so gorgeous omg! *adds it on my tbr too*
xan ive heard so many good things about illuminae ah <333 i heard its beautifully crafted and unique. my mom's friend in the us is going to get me a signed copy, how nice is that?
I CANNOT WAIT FOR U TO READ SIX OF CROWS. ITS SO FUCKING GOOD I PROMISE. LEIGH HAS OUTDONE HERSELF WITH THIS ONE. AMAZING CHARACTERS WITH DIFFERENT BACKGROUNDS YAAAS.
im so excited for the rose society too! i just wanna read it but at the same time im dreading it too 😭 im getting a signed copy for this one too yaaaay.
isn't winter out on november though 🙈 we could pretend its still fall but i think thats winter already 😋 can't believe its all coming to an end now…
i still admire the vengeance road cover ah! i havent really read it yet but my uncle is fabulous and is going to the signing for me heh.
great post xan!
xxx isha
YOU ARE GETTING SO MANY SIGNED COPIES UGH. the jealousy is real, isha, IT’S REAL. i’m really liking ILLUMINAE so far! the concept is cool, but it’s also kinda confusing?
I’M SO EXCITED FOR SIX OF CROWS IT COMES OUT NEXT WEEK! *heavy breathing* i don’t know what i’m going to do and the finished copy is BEAUTIFUL. leigh posted pictures and the black-edged papers i cry.
do you realize you made a winter pun? because i read that and started laughing my head off. i love puns with a deep, burning passion. i’m so excited to read it, but it’s going to be so big. :///
thanks for visiting my blog, isha!! <33
Oo, that cover for The Rose Society is awesome! It looks very interesting. Also, I cannot wait for Winter to come out! But I still need to read Fairest. . .
right?! some of these covers are so gorgeous! *heart eyes* i still haven’t read fairest yet either, but i still cannot wait for winter!
I’m so excited for Winter! Which reminds me, I still need to read Fairest. I keep pushing that one off for some reason. I keep telling myself I still have time, but the release for Winter will probably be here before I know it D:
me too! i can’t believe the series is ending 🙁 i still haven’t read fairest either, and i’m actually not feeling up for it. i think i’ll read it after i finish winter ahah
SIX OF CROWS IS A PRIORITY! I really, really want to read it so badly. Gladly, it’s just one week away <3
SIX OF CROWS IS OUTTTTTT. wow this shows how bad i am at responding to comments. but hey the book is out and it’s gorgeous and I JUST FINISHED IT AND IT WAS AMAZING GO READ IT.
I LOVE ILLUMINAE. I hope you really like it. I’ve been obsessed with it since April. It’s a problem…. I also just preordered Winter and Carry On! I’m SO excited for those. They’re gonna be awesome. 😀 (here’s mine: https://tamaraniac.com/post/129684000924/top-ten-tuesday-fall-tbr)
i’ve heard you rave on and on about it so i’m quite excited haha. i’m around 30% into the book but it’s a harder to read when it’s on a e-reader with the graphics and all. UGH.
on the fence is so good! kasie west is the queen of contemporary. and a mad wicked folly is one of my favourite historical fictions! can’t wait for your book haul to see HAUL the books!!!!
i just finished the fill-in boyfriend and GAH KASIE WEST AND CONTEMPORARY MAN. so cute i CRY. i need to read more of her books asap. i’m excited to share my book haul but not so excited to write it out because SO MANY BOOKS I CAN’T.
I haven’t read any of these, but A Mad, Wicked Folly intrigues me so much, even though I don’t get along with historical fiction. What can I say, I’m a complicated woman. haha 😉
ahaha i haven’t read any historical fiction either but it sounds so interesting so i know what you mean 😀
I loved A mad wicked folly, really powerful story. On the fence was adorable and Vengeance road is high on my wish list. I can’t wait to get my hands on Six of crows and Winter <3 Happy reading!
thanks, mel! you just made me more excited to read all these, but also frustrated i can’t read faster. *struggles*
I’m so excited for Winter!!! I haven’t been able to pre-order because I’m saving for a trip to Paris (no book buying for me, unfortunately) but hopefully I will be able to get it and buy it PREEEETTY soon after it’s release. I recently marathoned the Lunar Chronicles and now I’m just DESPERATE for Winter.
agch book buying bans! though yours is for a good reason. paris sounds heavenly! *heart eyes* hopefully you’ll be able to read winter this winter! (;
