top ten tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by the broke and the bookish! you can find more information about it here.
this week’s top ten was a freebie! i decided to list out my top ten most anticipated releases because i want these books RIGHT NOW.
passenger, by alexandra bracken
this is my most-anticipated book as of right now. the first chapter was released along with the cover, and OHMYGOD it was amazing. the darkest minds trilogy is one of my all-time favorites so i cannot wait to see what alexandra bracken has up her sleeve in this novel. I’M SO EXCITED.
the rose and the dagger, by renée ahdieh
i recently finished the wrath and the dawn, so i’m still in a “book-hangover.” the only way i can cope is by repeatedly rereading it, but that’s not enough. i need to know what happens!! i need to know.
the winner’s kiss, by marie rutkoski
marie rutkoski is cruel. the cover was revealed, but not even a teaser?? the cliffhanger on the previous book left me in an incoherent state of mind and i need to wait an entire year?! she’s almost as cruel as rick riordan – and that’s saying something. this is the third and final book of the winner’s trilogy and i just need to know my characters are safe. (but i’m fairly sure that will not be the case.. *cries*)
the raven king, by maggie stiefvater
the release date has been pushed back, making me want it even more. this is the final installment of the raven boys series and i’m super excited. the cliffhanger of blue lily, lily blue wasn’t too bad, or at least i don’t remember it to be. maggie stiefvater’s endings always leave me in shock, but it isn’t awful like “I NEED THE NEXT BOOK RIGHT NOW.”
sweet temptation, by wendy higgins
i have a serious love-hate relationship with the sweet trilogy. i’m tempted (lol sweet TEMPTATION) to write a review for it, but i read it exactly a year ago and i’m afraid i’ll leave out a bunch of stuff. nonetheless, i’ll probably write a review in the future. ANYWAY, this book is basically going to be the sweet trilogy told in kaidan’s pov and AHHHHHHH. how do you expect me to cope????(get it, KOPE!) i’m jumping-up-and-down excited. (sorry these puns were unintentional and awful hehehe)
carry on, by rainbow rowell
fangirl was one of my favorite books ever, and now this is going to be the fanfiction from fangirl?! I’M FANGIRLING. (more puns!!) when i heard rainbow was writing this book, i actually screamed. I NEED THIS IN MY POSSESSION.
winter, by marissa meyer
ohmygoodness. this is the final book of the lunar chronicles saga, one of my favorites ever! cress was SO GOOD and i honestly cannot wait for winter to come out. what’s great about marissa meyer is that she leaves a cliffhanger, but it also feels concluded. cress finished off very nicely, but i still want the next book. now, please.
the rose society, by marie lu
this is the second book of the young elites series, and the last one had a massive cliffhanger. *exhales* i need to be reassured that what happened in the previous book, didn’t actually happen. though, i’m kinda really scared to read it, I’M ALSO SUPER PUMPED.
lady midnight, by cassandra clare
this is the first of her new series, the dark artifices, and i really am so excited for this to be released. i wasn’t a huge fan of cassandra clare, but after city of heavenly fire and the infernal devices, it’s clear she’s grown as a writer. i can’t wait to see what she has up her sleeve~!
the rest of us just live here, by patrick ness
i haven’t read anything by patrick ness (yet), but i REALLY REALLY want to read this. the concept is so unique and i’ve always wanted to read something like it. the cover is perfect; the plotline is perfect; everything is perfect. i want it noooooooooow.
what are your most-anticipated upcoming releases?
– alexandra
I did not know about Carry On! How freaking exciting!! I so need to read that. I’m also anxiously and eagerly waiting for Lady Midnight, it’s going to rock, I can tell!
when i heard about carry on, i thought it was a joke. literally a book about a fanfiction from another book *heart eyes* i’m also glad cassie decided to write another series in the shadowhunter world! <333
August can’t come soon enough. I can’t wait to get Ness’s book. I haven’t read anything by him either but I like the synopsis of The Rest of Us Just Live Here.
when i read the summary for the rest of us just live here, i knew i HAD to get it when it comes out!
I want all these books! (Except for The Rose..I haven’t read the first book yet, but I have a feeling I’ll want it too when the time comes.) This year/beginning of next year is going to be the time of all the bookish feels! So many great books I want to buy and devour. Great list!
thanks!! yeah, i cannot wait for the upcoming year filled with all these new releases 🙂
These are some awesome books! I have yet to read The Winner’s Trilogy but I’m definitely going to pick up the first book the next time I hit the library.
Love the beautifully designed blog, Alexandra!
thank you so much! the winner’s trilogy is definitely one of my favorite reads of the year 🙂
THE WINNER’S KISS YESSS. i finished the winner’s crime and shit that was some serious cliffhanger. i dont know if i can deal with this arin / kestrel not being together for much longer. like OH MY GOD i hate what marie rutkoski put us through in the last quarter of that book. what agony jesus christ. oh yes the raven king absolutely
was that painful or WAS THAT PAINFUL??? the moment when arin comes in and kestrel has no choice but to lie to him YET AGAIN. *curls into a ball and cries* it was awful and it was glorious.
Winter and Carry On are books I’m so excited for! Also for me- the first book in Rick Riordan’s new series. 🙂
yes!! i was going to add it to the list, but i’d already reached ten books without knowing
I want Carry On too!
Oh almost ALL of these are ones I’m especially anticipating…especially Winter! (I really want to find time to reread Cress before it comes out!) Your blog is lovely, by the way!
Thank you for visiting my blog on Tuesday!<3
the Raven King, I'm so with you there. Sweet Temptation – I'm just not sure, I seriously liked Sweet Trilogy, but the idea of the whole story being condensed doesn't appeal that much, argh. Winter Winter Winter Winter, it would be lovely to have that book like yesterday, said times.. Great list darling!<3
I agree with all of these! I’m so desperate for The Raven King, Carry On, The Rest of us Just Live Here and Lady Midnight. I NEED THEM. NOW. I’m also eagerly awaiting the release of Queen of Shadows.
OHMYGOD I NEED CARRY ON! I have a feeling it’s going to be THE ULTIMATE comfort book (it’s essentially a mix of Fangirl and Harry Potter, so how could it not be???) and I need some comfort reads right now.

I need The Raven King like now! I was anticipating it before the release date got pushed and now it’s been pushed I’m even more impatient!
