farewell, november and december 2016!

I’M BACK FROM THE DEAD. two or three months ago, i wrote a post about overcoming the blogging slump and how i had “plans” on coming back from that, THEN proceeded to disappear. whoops. in my defense, i’ve been very busy with ~life~ and hardly had time to sit down and think, let alone read or blog or do other things (unfortunately). but i’m here! i’m back! and i’ll be sharing my adventures! i haven’t felt this excited to blog in a while so hopefully, i won’t be setting myself up for disappointment!

november was an exciting yet stressful month filled with last-minute performance preparations and adventures in different time zones. i mentioned this last time, but my ballet studio performed SWAN LAKE this year and i’m really proud with how everyone did! the rehearsals were brutal and the show went well and i just feel really nostalgic and sappy (sad/happy) about the whole ordeal.

the day after our intense show, i got up at 7am (8am?) to go to disneyland & california adventure with two of my friends (one of those friends being my sister but WHATEVER). i haven’t been in 7(???!) years and my friend reaaaaaaally wanted to go and we were done with the show so we’re FREE. it was kinda crazy because the weather was gloomy (rainy) and we tried to go to all the good rides, which meant we hardly stopped to eat, sit, drink water, or do any of the necessary human needs. but it was fun nonetheless. i’d do it again. ALSO, we got to ride on tower of terror before it closed down! that was probably my favorite ride. :”(

after our disney day, we (aka my family and i) packed our bags and flew to shanghai, china. (yeah, we really did not stop to breathe.) my sister and dad stayed for four to five days before flying home, but i stayed with my mom for another week. i was jet-lagged all the way until the day i flew home, and was jet-lagged when i got home because i finally switched my time zone. WONDERFUL. if you want to know more details about my adventures in shanghai, i have a vlog on my youtube if you want to check it out:

it was already mid-december by the time i got back and i was scrambling to get christmas gifts, sleep schedule, and MY LIFE back together. i started planning (and stressing) for 2017 events and… that’s basically it. my ballet studio also had a winter intesnive program for two weeks of intense training, which was tiring but also refreshing. for christmas, my sister flew back and all of us went to las vegas (family tradition-ish). we stayed at the venetian and i had a surprisingly fun time. i usually don’t like going to las vegas because of the intense smell of smoke, gambling, and intoxicated people, but i enjoyed myself this time around. ??

foresights of 2017 janurary

this month is a very big preperation for the coming two. i have a few ballet auditions on the weekends, but not much else planned. i’m hoping to follow through on my new year’s resolutions and get back to blogging, make some more videos, tidy my room, the usual. i’m also trying to get back into bullet journaling and maybe start cooking(?).

goals for this month:

  • keep your room tidy
  • stretch every day
  • take care of yourself

do you have any plans for janurary? let me know in the comments!

  • Xan you awesome human being? It has been a really hectic month for you and I can’t believe you managed to do all those peformance and travelling and still managed to read 4 books :O Goodluck for the ballet editions! My goals in January is just surviving finals and hopefully get a high gpa haha.

    • thank you!! looking back, the past two months did seem kinda crazy haha. i hope you do well on your finals and improve your GPA! i believe you can do it <33

  • I’m glad you’re back, Xan! I hope you continue to feel inspired and slowly get out of your reading slump.
I really liked watching your vlog of Shanghai and I hope you can share the second part soon! It really is a beautiful city!
For my goals of January, I hope to read as much as I can. At the end of the month, school is back, so I won’t have much time to read or watch TV shows. I’m trying to make myself as productive as possible!
    I hope you have a fantastic 2017 🙂

    • thank you! i was debating if i should edit/upload the second part of my vlog since so much time has passed since then and i was wondering if it would’ve been awkward to still upload it ? but seeing as someone (you!) would be interested, i’ll be happy to share. i hope you get a chance to do a lot of reading this month! i hope your 2017 is amazing as well~

So glad you’re back, Xan! I missed your blog posts (although of course I’ve been keeping up with your instagram and youtube vids ;)).
One of my goals this year is to restart bookstagramming. I deleted my bookstagram last year (bad decision) because I just couldn’t find the effort or time to continue taking pictures. I honestly regret it so much because I’d had @lastchapters since 2013 before bookstagram was even a proper community and thing, and because I didn’t change the username before deleting it I can’t get it back :(. Now I’m struggling to pick a username I like which (petty as it is) is preventing me from restarting .-.
Anyhow, can’t wait for your next post! <3

    • thank you so much!! i hope you get back to bookstagramming as well because it’s such a happy community. 🙂 i understand the username thing, as it was my struggle when i first started. but lucky for me, there weren’t many of us at the time so i got to snag the one i thought of. your awesome username will come to you!

  • I’m so glad you posted. I’ve missed reading new content on your blog. My goal for January is to read some books, eat healthy, and do my best in school. I hope you have a great new year!

  • Wow, the photos of the Swan Lake production are stunning! I love that ballet 😀 Also, yay for Disneyland! I’m going to Disney World next week and I’m so excited! I also like the Tower of Terror! And then China and Law Vegas–no wonder you had no time for anything! Hopefully you’re really back from the dead now and can get back to blogging more regularly 🙂 Lovely post!

DISNEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY! I’m so glad you enjoyed yourself! I went to disneyland paris for the first time in October 2015 and it was the best time of my life. I’m still counting down the days until I get to go back again (which, unfortunately, is unknown). I’m so excited to watch your shanghai vlog, and I’m glad you had a good christmas! I read Milk and Honey in December and it was so BEAUTIFUL, I absolutely adored it.
