this will probably be my last haul for a while because i recently spent the last bit of my savings on a new camera. GOOD BYE BOOKS. i’ve actually been a good cookie and HAVEN’T been ordering new books every other day as i used to. i deserve, well, a cookie. anyway, let’s get onto this haul!
book outlet & other books i bought/traded
there was a president’s day sale, so how could i resist? i got all these lovely books for only $30! this will probably be the last of my book buying for a looooong time. *sigh*
- SUPERFOOD SMOOTHIES, by julie moris
- THE STATISTICAL PROBABILITY OF LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT, by jennifer e. smith
- DAYS OF BLOOD & STARLIGHT, by laini taylor
- WILD MAGIC, by tamora pierce
- SINCE YOU’VE BEEN GONE, by morgan matson
- HELLO, I LOVE YOU, by katie m. stout
- STEELHEART, by brandon sanderson
- A WRINKLE IN TIME (GRAPHIC NOVEL), by madeleine l’engle & hope larson
i purchased ME BEFORE YOU, by mojo moyes, right after i watched the trailer because, let’s be honest, there’s no way i could continue on and not read the book after watching that trailer. i’m actually currently reading this and loving it so far, so it’s all good.
i also purchased A DARKER SHADE OF MAGIC, by v.e. schwab, because the second book was recently released, and because i’ve heard many many great things, and because i’ve been wanting to buy this for a very very long time. i also traded for a copy of VICIOUS, also by v.e. schwab as well as a SIX OF CROWS ARC!
gifts & mail from blogger friends
my gifts from canada have finally arrived and they made me super duper über happy. annie (from the runaway reader) was the kindest person and sent me this fantastic package for (a very late) christmas; thank you, annie! i received fuzzy socks, muji pens, the most adorable stickers ever, candy, a chia seed bar, hand lotion that smells spectacular, letters, and A MINI PLANT. everything in here is perfect and very much XAN <3333
i got a surprise postcard from tamara (from tamaraniac), which was the nicest and cutest thing EVER! thank you so much, tamara! ballet and snail mail are two of my favorite things so thank you thank you! i also got a few alexandra bracken goodies from genissa (from a story diary), who went to the passtruth tour! these goodies make me so happy, especially since THE DARKEST MINDS is my favorite trilogy ever. thank you!! aaaaaaaand finally, i got a few bookmarks from taylor (from @taylorreads) for being a moderator of bibliophile academy. whooooo!! thanks, taylor!
from publishers & other companies
candlewick press sent me a copy of A TYRANNY OF PETTICOATS, by a bunch of authors i love (like marie lu, marissa meyer, and many more!). this is an anthology that follows historical american fiction, which is exactly what i’m into right now as i’m hamilton trash this month. however, i tend to dislike anthologies/short stories so… we’ll see how this goes.
penguin sent me the new paperback copy of HALF BAD, by sally green, and it’s a reaaaaaaally nice paperback copy. the edges are deckled and it opens so smoothly and is overall VERY NICE. i’m excited to read this as i’ve heard some good things.
i got a surprise package from simon & schuster with a finished copy of THANKS FOR THE TROUBLE, by tommy wallach! my friend loooooooved WE ALL LOOKED UP and this cover is so beautiful and the synopsis makes it sounds like my kinda book and it’s quite small so i MIGHT be picking this up soon. anyway, thank you thank you to simon & schuster!
i won an instagram giveaway from HMH and got an ARC of INTO THE DIM, by janet b. taylor. it also came with some tattoos, a stress ball, and some nail filers. i’m not of fan of this ARC cover, but i know the finished cover will be much nicer! the only thing i know about this story is that there’s time travel involved. (definitely a 2016 trend.) nevertheless, it sounds like i’ll like this one.
out of print sent me their PRIDE & PREJUDICE tote to help promote their giveaway that was going on. i haven’t used it yet, but i like bookish totes very much and will probably find good use for this bag. thanks, out of print!
bookly box sent me their YA box of the month and it included FAR FAR AWAY, by tom mcneal, a bookmark, some tea, a bag, and some sticky notes. i like how this subscription box is different from the others because it donates a box in developing countries, and you get to choose the genre you’d like (adult fiction, business, YA, etc)!
